SEO and Tech Daily: Now I'm convinced. BING could be HUGE.

Well for one thing, I can't seem to do unit conversions I tried things like "1km in m" and "1inch in nm". I don't convert units frequently, but Google has been there when I needed it for this. Not Bing. Although it seems like it works for currency conversions, why not units? Queries like "Coffee in toronto" fail to return what it should, as it does in Google. What I did like though is the result page for "Google" on Bing - or Microsoft, or Yahoo, big company names. I like how the results are divided into different categories, jobs, services, products, etc.

"1km in m" doesn't work on Bing but "1 km in m" does. Notice the space between the "1" and "km".

Sure, you could criticize Bing for not figuring that out easily, but who cares? Google has trained us all to search a specific way, so who cares if Bing has nuances. Different search syntax for unit conversion is hardly a deal breaker for anyone.

Try searching for "kobe bryant" in Bing and compare to what you get in Google.

Stefan Weitz from Bing (@bing) here. Yes, i know our conversion is wonky - we aren't firing as much as we should on obvious conversion queries. The good news is we can do all the conversions, we just need to tweak the grammars to make sure they appear consistently. Cool toolbar on the bottom of the site, btw.

Thanks for stopping by and addressing the Bing comments Stefan. I really wasn't big on the 'bottom toolbars' until I came across the Wibiya closed beta. Likin' it a lot.

    and you can do:

    Calculation
    2x^2+3x-19=0 : x=2.422144, x=-3.922144

"convert 5 miles to km " works just fine on Bing. "1km in m" isn't a unit conversion.
"convert 1 inch to nm" works as well.

I searched for 5 different things that other search engines have trouble with. Bing did't find relevant answers either. Not switching myself.

Yes, but not as huge as Google.

I think Bing is having different approach for listing sites. The results are based on some research and authority rather than relying heavily on on-page and backlinks factors.
